Marianne C. Cuff, 55, of Shenandoah Heights, lost her long, courageous battle to mantle cell lymphoma Tuesday morning at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill E. Norwegian Street, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Frackville, she was a daughter of the late Peter L. and Catherine Massey Becker.

She was educated in local Frackville parochial schools. Marianne was a 1979 graduate of Cardinal Brennan High School. She graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 1983 and earned a B.S. degree in finance.

Marianne spent the next part of her life living in the Lehigh Valley in Allentown and Whitehall. She was employed in the financial sector, notably as an assistant manager for Security Pacific Finance Co. and as a consumer credit officer for the Lehigh Valley Bank until 1991. She returned to live in Schuylkill County after her marriage and worked for the Pennsylvania National Bank in Hamburg as a consumer lender. Marianne then pursued a different career path earning an associate degree in physical therapy from Penn State Hazleton. She worked as a PTA, notably as a program director, for rehab care at Shenandoah Manor until July 2012. She then worked as a staff PTA for Guardian Rehab at the Weatherwood Skilled Nursing Facility in Weatherly until the time of her death.

She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah, and a life member of the Penn State Alumni Association and Shenandoah Heights Fire Company.

Marianne was a self-described sports junkie and was a well-known diehard fan of the Penn State Nittany Lions, New York Yankees and her New York GMEN/Giants. Marianne loved to travel with Marty but always found an excuse to visit her "home away from home," Key West, Fla.

Marianne is survived by her husband, Martin, and they were seldom seen apart. They were a couple since 1983 and married Sept. 28, 1991. They celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary this year.

She is also survived by a brother, David and his wife, Nancy Becker, Bloomsburg; a sister, Jane Becker, Bradenton, Fla.; niece, Gretchen Becker, Palmerton; nephew, Jonathan Becker, Bradenton, Fla.; daughter, Rachelle Cuff, Shenandoah and her fiancé, Joseph Alashefski; son, Christopher Cuff and his wife, Janelle, Shenandoah; three grandchildren, Christopher and Ella Cuff and Nicholas Ryan.

Marianne also dearly loved all of her pet family, including Jumbo, Frisky, Sparky, Guinness and Chelsie, and is survived by beloved Shannon and Casey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Divine Mercy Church, Shenandoah, with Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian as the celebrant. Interment will be held in Annunciation BVM Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. until time of Mass on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers contributions in Marianne's name to Hillside SPCA, P.O. Box 233, 51 SPCA Road, Pottsville, PA 17901. Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Frackville, is in charge of the arrangements. To sign the guest book, leave personal condolences and for further information, please visit www.thomasmsullivanfuneralhome.com.
