Doris married Jerry Francis Gleason. The couple were married 61 years at the time of his death, November 21, 2015. During one period of Jerry’s longtime career in the oil industry, the couple left Texas, spending 13 years on the East Coast raising their two daughters before returning to Dallas where they eventually retired.
During retirement, Doris loved travels abroad with Jerry, visiting many countries in Asia and Europe, including China. She most recently fulfilled a longtime dream of cruising Alaska.
Doris was most popular among her three granddaughters and family and friends for her love of genealogy of which she passionately spent hours studying and researching.
Her devotion inspired her to write the book, The Search for the Ancestry of Joseph Forman, published in 2011.
Doris was a loyal and treasured wife, mother and mother in law, caring and cherished grandmother, kind and admired friend.
In addition to her husband and parents, Doris also is preceded in death by beloved daughters, Nancy Gleason Taylor and Patricia Lynn Gleason, and two sisters, Frances Finklea and Marjorie Griffing. She leaves behind to hold her legacy and beautiful life daughter and son in law, Shannon Gleason Dion and Eric Dion; granddaughters, Erin and Megan Dion and Lauren Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.
