SP4 Mack Arthur Alston Sr, Vietnam Veteran, Native of Whitakers, NC.

SP4 Mack Arthur Alston Sr was a member of the Army Selective Service. SP4 Alston served our country until September 13th, 1967 in Dinh Tuong, South Vietnam. He was 21 years old and was married. It was reported that Mack died from small arms fire or grenade. His body was recovered. SP4 Alston is on panel 26E, line 064 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for less than a year.

He is the son of Douglas Alston and Lula Evans Alston of Whitakers, NC.

He served with Charlie Company, 3rd Battalion, 60th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division, "Old Reliables", USARV.

He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal and The National Defense Service Medal.
