daughter of Rowland Braithwaite and Hannah Askew both born in England.

Wife of Thomas Boyington born at Kirkland, Kendall, Westmoreland. Hannah came from a well-to-do family. She was of small stature, being thin, had dark hair and was known for her lovely disposition. Her health was fair and she was of a religious nature. Her father passed away and was buried in England and it was in the schools of England that she received her education. [An interesting difference of view from other Braithwaite histories!- MG]

When her future husband was asked, "Why don't you court Hannah?" Thomas replied, "She is too fancy for me." However, he must have "courted" her. Another misconception that Thomas had of Hannah was: "She would never know how to work," but Hannah certainly proved the contrary in spite of her small build. She was a good Relief Society member of the LDS Church. She was a friendly neighbor and was particularly good to visit the sick. Hannah was of slight build with dark hair, as remembered by her grandson Gerald Henrie who was nine years of age when she passed away. She was fussy about her clothes, especially with her shoes.(From Sarah and Nettie Boyington)
