Pasquale C. Melillo, 80, of Camp St., husband of Jennie M. (Zuk) Melillo, died suddenly Thursday morning, Feb. 1, 1996, at Veterans Memorial Medical Center. He was born in New Haven on April 9, 1915, and was the son of the late Pasquale and Mary Melillo. He had resided in Hamden for some 70 years before moving to Meriden some 10 years ago. He attended local schools in Hamden, and for many years, he was employed by the Long Wharf Fruit and Vegetable Market with Newark Fruit Co. Mr. Melillo owned and operated a family grocery store in the Highwood section of Hamden. In later years, he was employed by Dee's Carting Co. of Hamden, retiring 11 years ago. He was a member of the Teamster's Union of Hamden. He was a former parishioner of St. Ann Church in Hamden, and more recently was a member of the First Congregational Church in Meriden.
Besides his wife, Jennie, he is survived by one daughter, Maryann Cestaro of Cheshire; two sons, John Melillo of Hamden, and Richard G. Melillo of Branford; three grandchildren, Lisa Anne Masi, Dawn Mary Cestaro and April Marie Prats; one great-grandson, Joseph Cestaro; one sister, Marie Ahearn of West Haven; and a brother, Anthony Melillo of East Haven. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mr. Melillo was predeceased by a brother, Louis Melillo of Hamden.
The funeral will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. in the First Congregational Church in Meriden. Burial will be in Beaverdale Cemetery in Hamden. Friends may call at the John J. Ferry and Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m.
