John Fernando Amaral, 62, of Gonzales, CA, died peacefully at home, lovingly surrounded by his family on March 12, 2015. He was born in 1953 on San Miguel island (Portuguese Azores).

John loved metal work and working side by side with his brothers. He was a supervisor of fabricating agricultural equipment for 30+ years until he was forced to stop due to his illness. He enjoyed the outdoors, tending to his garden, and playing with his grandchildren the most. He also enjoyed trips to Monterey and watching comedies with his family. John was always there to help family & friends with repair projects or whatever else they needed him for.

John is survived by his wife Augusta of 38 years, daughter Helen (Amaral) Couto, sons Danny and Brian Amaral, grandchildren Noah (Couto), Matthew, Anthony, Nathan, and Isabella (Amaral), brothers Edward, George, Manuel, Carlos, and Joe Amaral, and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. John was an extraordinarily loving and devoted father, husband, grandfather and friend to all.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2015, at St. Theodore's Church, 116 South Belden St., Gonzales, CA 93926.

Rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2015, at St. Theodore's Church, 116 South Belden St., Gonzales, CA 93926.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2015, at St. Theodore's Church, 116 South Beldon St., Gonzales, CA 93926.

Burial will follow at Gonzales District Cemetery, 1000 Highway 101 South, Gonzales, CA 93926.
