He was a retired Methodist minister. He died of cancer and was interred on 7 Jan 1939.

In 1880 he and his parents and four siblings lived in Johnstown, PA. James and their father both worked as laborers, John worked weighing iron, and he worked as a clerk in the post office.

In 1900 he and his wife and their daughter lived in a house they were renting on Pleasant Street in Littleton, NH. He worked as a clergyman.

In 1910 he, Jenny, their daughter, and his mother-in-law--Martha C Love, born in 1833 in New Jersey--lived in a house they were renting on Chestnut Street in Tilton, NH. He worked as a Methodist clergyman.

In 1920 the four of them lived in a house they were renting at 287 Walnut Street in Manchester, NH. He worked as a Methodist Episcopal clergyman, and their daughter as a teacher at the Mount Ida School.

In 1930 he and his wife and their daughter lived in a house they owned at 586 Hanover Street in Manchester. Their home was valued at $7500, and they did have a radio. He worked as a clergyman for a Methodist church, and Martha as a public school teacher.
