ROBERT MICHAEL ABATE, a resident of Kissimmee, FL passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2008 in Norwalk. Born in 1947 in Stamford, he was the son of Gloria Frate Abate and the late Carmine Abate. He was 60. Robert graduated from J. M. Wright Technical School in Stamford where he studied carpentry. He worked in construction his whole life with various companies and independently. Robert was a master carpenter. He served with the Army National Guard from 1968 to 1973. He was a musician and played piano in various local oldies groups. He created the popular musical group "The Royal Kings". Besides his mother, he is survived by his three children, Tara Abate and Samantha Abate both of Norwalk and Michael Abate of Stamford. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Koren and her husband Ed of Darien and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road in Darien, CT 06820 on Monday, July 14, 2008 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, Darien on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at St. John R.C. Cemetery in Darien.
