ROCHESTER -- The funeral for Erlene (Trogstad) Rions will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Grace Lutheran Church in Rochester, with the Rev. Greg Heidorn officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Rions, 73, of Rochester, formerly of Eyota, died Tuesday (Dec. 26, 2006) at Rochester Methodist Hospital, following a lengthy illness with cancer.
Erlene Holets was born May 11, 1933, in Chatfield, and graduated from Chatfield High School in 1951. In September 1952, she married Norman Trogstad; they later divorced. From 1952 to 1979, she lived in rural Eyota, then moved to Rochester. She worked at Saint Marys Hospital as a dietary aide and later as a federal crop insurance agent. She also worked at the Rochester Elks Club, Rochester Health Care and Madonna Towers. In April 1985, she married Victor Rions. He preceded her in death in December 2004. She was a member of the Does and enjoyed crocheting, gardening, ceramics and traveling.
Survivors include three sons, Allan (Mary) Trogstad of Eyota, Gary (Lori) Trogstad of Rochester and Rick (Gina) Trogstad of Chatfield; a daughter, Norma (John) Pries of Eyota; six grandchildren; and three brothers, Howard (Lois) Holets, Herbie (Sylvia) Holets and Joe (Tina) Holets, all of Rochester. In addition to her second husband, she was preceded in death by a brother.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Eyota, and an hour before the service Friday at the church.
