ALBATYS, ZIGMUND M., age 82, of Fern Creek, died on Monday, December 25, 2006. He was a mechanical engineer who retired after many years of service with the Naval Ordnance Station. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars (Post 8639), a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of Saint Bernard Catholic Church. Zigmund was preceeded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Griffin) Albatys; parents, Joseph and Alice Albatys; brother, Edward; and sisters, Josie and Helen. He is survived by his son, Andy Albatys (Sharon); and daughter, Carole Willrodt (Detlef). Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, December 28, 2006 at Saint Bernard's Catholic Church, 7500 Tangelo Dr., with interment to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Ratterman and Son's Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road. Memorial offering may be made to the charity of choice.
