Alice Cox Stones, 93, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2016.

She was born on March 12, 1923 in Fairview, Utah, the daughter of Roy Burns and Louisa Kelsey Cox.

She married Melvin Branch Stones on January 30, 1950 in Fairview, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they lived in Fairview, Ogden, and Roy, UT, Louisville, Boulder, Ft. Collins, CO, Bozeman, MT; and Mesa, AZ before settling back in Ogden, UT. Melvin and Alice enjoyed working summers at Yellowstone National Park together.

Melvin passed away on December 19, 1995 after almost 46 short years together.

Alice was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Her passion was quilting and she was a volunteer at McKay Dee Hospital as a quilter. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, and doing crossword puzzles, scrabble, and other word games.

Alice is survived by her sons: Michael Cox Stones, of Las Vegas, NV, Lawrence Roy (Margaret) Stones, of Longmont, CO, Terrence Melvin (Hallie) Stones, of Beaverton, OR, Edward Curtis (Sandy) Stones, of Mesa, AZ, and Timothy Alan (Claudia) Stones, Highland Ranch, CO; daughters: Melanie Dawn Stones, of Ogden, and Emily Louise (Rick) Luther, of Magna; 18 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; father, Roy B. Cox; mother, Louisa Kelsey; sisters: Rosanna, Eria, Eva and Evelyn; and brothers: Orren M., Carlyle and Ivan.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Burch Creek 1st Ward Chapel, 5161 South 1300 East, South Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church.

Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.

Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
