Robert Jones "Bob" Coulter, III, 93, of Chattanooga, TN passed away on Monday, October 24, 2016 at Erlanger Medical Center with his family by his side.

He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, in the 16th Armoured Division, serving under General Patton and received the Bronze Star and Soldiers Medal for extraordinary heroism. In 1945, while stationed in Nuremberg, Germany he attended the Nuremberg Trials.

He began his Funeral Service career in 1946 at R. J. Coulter Funeral Home. His grandfather started the funeral business in 1897 in Dayton, TN and relocated to Chattanooga at 801 Vine Street. Bob founded the R. J. Coulter Funeral Home in 1960 on Ashland Terrace. He was a member of Mountain Creek Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Coulter, daughter, Kipra Allison Coulter and brother, Ted T. Coulter.

Survivors include his daughter, Deborah Coulter English and husband, Ed of Chattanooga, TN, son, R. Jeff Coulter and wife, Dawn of Soddy-Daisy, TN, sisters, Billie Coulter Garrison of Dayton, TN and Betty Coulter Williamson of Soddy-Daisy, TN, four grandchildren, John Coulter English of Signal Mountain, TN, Kerri Coulter Case of Knoxville, TN, Kelly Coulter Johnson and husband, Morgan of Hixson, TN and Nic Coulter and wife, Alana of Chattanooga, TN, six great-grandchildren, Ayden and Alex Case, Skyler and Brooke Johnson, Sarah Elizabeth English and Naomi Coulter as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Lane Funeral Home, Coulter Chapel with Minister Gary Massey and Minister Ken Chambers officiating. Interment will follow at the Chattanooga Memorial Park with Full Military Honors.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m and Thursday from 12 p.m. until the funeral hour in the funeral home.
