Mrs. Shock died Monday, July 31, 2006, at Aspen Health and Rehab Center, Silvis.
Sarah Chapman was born Dec. 4, 1910, in Sewal, Iowa, the daughter of Robert E. and Elizabeth Fields Chapman. She married Robert C. Shock Dec. 24, 1937, on a farm in Putman County, Iowa. Mr. Shock died Sept. 8, 1961.
She had been a cook for many years, working at the YWCA in her earlier years and retiring from George O. Barr School, Silvis. She was well-known for her delicious pies and other fresh baked goodies. She enjoyed taking day trips, going out to eat, and flowers.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, James and Shary Shock, East Moline; granddaughters and spouse, Amber and Jeremy Bettis, Colona, Breanne Shock, East Moline; and great-granddaughter, Jenna Lyn Bettis. She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters.
