Lora Josephine (Schnore) Klinghammer, 94, died Friday, Aug. 3, 1990, at Valley View Care Center in La Grande. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Elgin Cemetery, Pastor Jim Kirby of the Elgin Christian Church will officiate. Mrs. Klinghammer was born June 7, 1896, in Spokane to Henry and Permelia Susan (Carnahan) Schnore. She moved to Elgin in 1903 with her family. She graduated from Elgin High School in 1917. She was a graduae of the Oregon Normal School, now Western Oregon State College, Monmouth. She taught in the primary grades for several years. On July 3, 1931, she married Otto A. Klinghammer in Walla Walla, Wash. They farmed in the Grande Ronde Valley near Alicel for many years. Her husband and two sisters died earlier. She is survived by her brother Melvin Frank Schnore, sister Reta Belle Schnore, two nephews, three nieces and nine great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends may call Saturday and Sunday afternoon and evening at Daniels Valley Funeral Chapel, 1502 Seventh St. La Grande.
