Finis E. Cornelius, 58, 220 Brookside Drive, Gadsden, died yesterday at a local hospital after an extended illness.

Funeral services will be tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Collier-Butler Chapel with burial in Crestwood Cemetery.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Florine H. Cornelius; daughter, Mrs. Johnny S. (Amy) Cole, Glencoe; sisters, Mrs. P.T. (Thelma) Blackwell, Indianapolis, Ind., Mrs. John A. (Martha) Thomas, New Orleans, La.; Mrs. Arley C. (Betty Sue) Williamson, Birmingham; brothers, Walter John Cornelius, Walnut Grove, and Leon Cornelius, Morrow, Ga.; grandchildren, Heather Anne Cole and Matthew Scott Cole.

Mr. Cornelius was a native and lifelong resident of Etowah County. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gadsden and the Hickman Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Walnut Grove Masonic Lodge No. 220, F.& A.M., was a veteran of WWII and was employed with Republic Steel Corporation for 39 years.
