Mark was a 1964 graduate of Carey High School, 1971 graduate of Huntington College, and received his Master's Degree from Ball State University. He married Peggy Ann Lortz in Carey on December 19, 1970. He was a retired principal and educator in the Metropolitan School District of Wabash County. He was also an insurance agent, over 40 years, and an auctioneer. Mark was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Peru, the Wabash Kiwanis Club, and the Board of Directors for the Community Foundation of Wabash County,
