Golda O’Brien, of Visalia, CA passed away on Thursday October 13, 2016. She was born February 12, 1918, in Russellville, Arkansas to Charles & Hattie Freyer. She grew up in Prague, OK, the eldest of four children of a German immigrant. On December 31, 1934 she married Loren Jack O’Brien in Meeker, Oklahoma. There they began farming and had their first child, living there until farming became difficult. To provide a better life for their growing family, in 1941 they moved to California and started farming in the Ivanhoe area. Golda helped with developing a couple of ranches, but the ranch on avenue 336 would become the family base creating fond memories for generations to come.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband “Jack” of 53 years, Sister Helen Guinn, brothers Carl and Coy Freyer. She is survived by her 3 children, Herschel O’Brien and wife Emma Jean, Jerry O’Brien and wife Sammie, daughter Janet O’Brien and son-in-law Michael Banks, 9 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her nieces Wilma Sawtell of Single Mountain, TN and Lucille Tressler of Berthoud, CO.

Goldie loved family time; working in her yard, going for drives and at 98 still loved having Friday night pizza and beer. She was truly an amazing woman and will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
