Born on June 3, 1916, at Keyser, WVa, she was a daughter of the late Jacob Kinsey and Frances Winona (Cumberledge) Staggers. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Porter Snyder on March 14, 1998; seven brothers, Harley O. Staggers, Sr., John W. Staggers, Herman Staggers, Chester Staggers, Lester Staggers, Jacob Staggers and Oscar Staggers and a sister, Edna Staggers Whiteman. Mrs. Snyder was a retired language instructor in the Mineral County School System, having taught both English and French at Ridgeley High School and Keyser High School for over 40 years. She was a 1934 graduate of Keyser High School, graduated in 1938 from Shepherd College and received her Masters Degree in Education from West Virginia University in 1940. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Reese's Mill, WVa.
Surviving are 11 nieces and nephews, Frances C. Whiteman of Morgantown, WVa, Neil S. Whiteman of Arlington, VA, Dr. Margaret Staggers of Fayetteville, WVa, Mary Kay Staggers of Burlington, WVa, Susan Staggers Tasker of Keyser, Ellen Staggers of Morgantown, Harley O. Staggers, Jr. of Keyser, Daniel C. Staggers of Keyser, John Staggers of Keyser, Michael Staggers of Keyser and Sally Staggers Seeders of Shepherdstown, WVa and a large number of grandnieces and nephews. Also surviving is her loving caregiver, Toni Iaquinta of Fairmont.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Debbie Friend officiating. Interment will be in the Centenary Cemetery, Reese's Mill.
