MRS. ESTELLE BYERS

Mrs. Justin N. (Estelle) Byers Sr., longtime Okmulgee resident and retired businesswoman, died Wednesday afternoon at her home at 716 South Muskogee from an apparent heart attack. Mrs. Byers, who had been in ill health for the past year, formerly owned and operated Estelle's Beauty Shop. She was employed at the former Stewart- Lucky store for a number of years. Her husband, Justin Byers Sr., is a retired Frisco Railroad Co. employee where he was employed as a railroad detective for many years.

She was born Oct. 17, 1902 in Arkansas, and had lived in Okmulgee since 1931.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Fielder, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Okmulgee cemetery under the direction of Davis-Cantrell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Byers was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Justin Byers Jr., Tulsa, a sister, Mrs. Rae Garner, Poteau, two brothers. Howard and Jim Caldwell, both of Poteau, two step-daughters, Geneva Coble, Kelseyville. Calif., and Ineda Mendenhall, Norwalk, Calif., three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
