ALVA SHEFFERD DIES; RITES TUESDAY AT 3
Alva "Al" Oscar Shefferd, 79, Somers Stage, died in Kalispell on Saturday evening.
Mr. Shefferd was born July 16, 1890, in Clayton County, Iowa. He had received his education and spent his life in Iowa until about 35 years ago when he moved to Kalispell.
Mr. Shefferd was a masonry contractor until his retirement. He was a Methodist.
He had been married to Alvina Kamaus who preceded him in death in Iowa.
He was preceed in death also by two sons, James and Vernon.
He was then married to Jennie Pettit, who preceded him in death in 1943.
June 3, 1950, he was married to Fern D. Kraft [1910-1981] at Libby and is now survived by her at the family home.
He is also survived by nine daughters, Irene Hofer of Clermont, Iowa; Cora Pisney of Lime Springs, Iowa; Florence Clynch of Cresco, Iowa; Virginia Osborn and Vivian Fuhrman, both of Lewiston, Idaho; Verda Shirley of Marysville, Wash.; Verna Rose Gilbert, Alva Jessie Bronson and Lois Mower, all of Kalispell; two stepdaughters, Anna Luce of Columbia Falls and Mildred Jackson of Coram; three stepsons, Barney Kraft of Columbia Falls, Harry Kraft of Livermore, Calif., and Harland Kraft of Pasco, Wash.; two brothers, Myron and Elmer, both in Iowa; two sisters, Ester in Iowa and Clara in California; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Shefferd will be conducted in the Johnson Chapel at 3 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 6th, 1970) with the Rev. J. Torrance Harvey, pastor of the Lakeside Chapel, officiating. Interment will be in the Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
