Eugene Francis Schwartz was born in Preston, Minnesota to Frank and Winnifred Schwartz on October 30, 1924. He went home with the Lord on September 1, 1986. After a courageous battle with lung cancer. "Gene" grew up in Preston, Minnesota with his 6 brothers and 4 sisters and graduated from Preston High School in 1943. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1943 during World War II and was aboard the USS Barrow for the Joint Task Force One, Atomic Bomb Test @ Bikini Toll in July, 1946. "Gene" married his sweetheart Pauline Pearl Ellison on November 15, 1949 in Huntsville, MO. Together they raised 3 daughters, Cynthia, Debra and Jeanene. Pauline was his beloved wife for 37 years. The family moved from Des Moines, Iowa to Kansas City, Kansas in 1961, and lived in the same house for 23 years. He was blessed with all his girls graduating from High School, walking them down the aisle and welcoming 5 grandchildren into his life, Chad, Brandi, Dereck, Angie and Erica prior to "going home". Gene cherished his summer vacations in northern Minnesota with his closest brother Frank and his family. Fishing was a great past time for him and he loved catching those Northern Pikes. At home he was a custodian at several schools in USD 500, and the Frank Rushton Elementary where he was tenured. He cherished those times around the kids who referred to him as "Mr. Schwartz". When school was not in session he was a plasterer for the school district.
He did not die, the "Lord just wrapped his arms around him" and said "Come with me, Gene, you don't deserve what you are going through". The Lord then gave him peace, rest and free from pain.
"He is like the wind. You cannot see him, but you always feel him". He will live in the hearts of those who loved him and may he rest in sweet peace until we cross paths once again". We love you!
