He was born September 24, 1917 in Excelsior, Arkansas to the late William and Mattie Goins.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, and retired from Harding Glass after 36 years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and was a Past Master and member of the Belle Point Lodge for 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Jean Goins, his son Thomas Alvin Goins, step-daughter; Scottie J. Williams, grandson Stephen Goins, Great grandson Braxton Goins, and step grandson Boyd Williams, II, his two brothers; Arlin and Ezra Goines, and his two sisters; Jo Ann Sheffield and Tina Hickey.
Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Friday, October 21, 2016 at the Fort Smith National Cemetery Pavilion. Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary.
Alvin is survived by his daughter Patricia Carruth of Ft. Smith, his son Larry Goins of Van Buren, step-daughters; Raylene Hillhouse of Colorado Springs, CO, Dee Shaw of Van Buren, step-sons; Dale Sines of Killeen, TX and Howard Sines of Van Buren. Alvin is also survived by a numerous grandchildren and step-grandchildren, a multitude of great grandchildren and step-great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
