OBITUARY NOTICE, Grandview Herald (Grandview, WA), 16 January 1930

MARILDA ANN RANSIER

Died at the home of her son Bert Ransier in Mabton Tuesday night at the age of 91 years, 6 months. She was the mother of eight children, seven of whom are still living. She also leaves 28 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren. She and her husband David Ransier were married in 1856 and came west from Kansas in 1878, settling in the Palouse, where they resided until 1886, when they moved to the Bickleton country. They were among the real pioneers of the west, having crossed the plains three times. Her husband preceded her in death in 1914, and she has since resided with her son Will near Cleveland, until about one and one-half years ago when they came to Mabton.

T. A. Ransier and Mrs. Lewis E. Mathews of Grandview are two of the children, the others all living in other parts of the west. Funeral services will be held in Bickleton as soon as the roads will permit the journey, and she will be laid at rest in the Cleveland Cemetery across the road from the home she has occupied for 42 years.

Not many of us reach the age of this pioneer woman, and we can do no better than pay the best of respects to such a character as hers.
