ATTKISSON, Ronald RONALD LEE "RON" ATTKISSON DATELINE: Atlanta, GA Ronald Lee Attkisson, 64, died Saturday, May 4, 2013 in Greenville, NC. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 14 at 1 p.m. at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church, 3180 Peachtree Road, Atlanta. A reception will be held in the church Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. The family requests that those in attendance wear cheerfully-colored clothing to honor and celebrate his life. Son of O.W. "Pete" Attkisson and the late Marguerite Barden Attkisson, Ron was born in Richmond, VA, and graduated from the University of North Carolina. He had been a resident of Atlanta since 1978. An avid reader, he was a college and professional sports enthusiast, and enjoyed spending time on the North Carolina coast. Ron loved his family dearly. He is survived by his two daughters, Lesley Lewis and her husband Perry of Charlotte, NC and Robin Attkisson of Atlanta, as well as their mother, Linda Attkisson of Atlanta. He is also survived by his father and his three siblings and their families: Wayne Attkisson of Edenton, NC; Jerry Attkisson of Atlanta; and Marguerite Braddy of High Point, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Ron's memory to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 304, Chicago, IL 60611-3201 (www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org/tributes).
