FULLERTON — Raymond Eugene Bandt, 71, of Fullerton passed away Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, at Boone County Health Center in Albion.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Palmer-Santin Funeral Home in Fullerton, with the Rev. Martin Leeper officiating. Inurnment will be at Fullerton Cemetery in Fullerton, with military rites by American Legion Post 151 of Fullerton.

Ray was born April 27, 1945, to Percy and Mable (Smith) Bandt in St. Paul. He grew up in Wolbach and graduated from high school in 1963. He joined the U.S. Marines and served during the Vietnam War. On May 26, 1969, he married Faye Mapes and to this union, they were blessed with four children. They moved to Fullerton, where Ray worked for the State Department of Roads for 41 years from June 1969 to September 2010.

He was a member of American Legion Post 151 of Fullerton and the Eagles Club. Ray loved to golf, garden, play cards, digital poker and scratch tickets. He loved spending time with his dogs. His favorite enjoyment in life was spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Mandy Bandt Vanosdall of Ord, Kelly (Jennifer) Bandt of Central City and Sara Bandt of Grand Island; two sisters, Marilyn Prentice of Wolbach and Marjorie (Butch) Teter of Amherst; a sister-in-law, Donna Bandt of Wolbach; and 12 grandchildren, Dakota Vanosdall, Cierra Vanosdall, Dayton Vanosdall, Savannah Vanosdall, Xavier Bandt, Destiny Umbarger, Karder Bandt, Xia Bandt, Kenyon Bandt, Delaney Bandt, Xaine Bandt and Xevin Podliska.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Audra Gale Bandt; brother, Norman Bandt; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Prentice.
