Donald Glen Appleman, 86 yrs, of Ida, died Saturday, October 15, 2016 in his residence under the care of Promedica Hospice. Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 2-8 PM. He will lie in state Thursday, Octorber 20, 2016, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, Ida, from 10 AM until the services at 11 AM. Pastor Harold Raymond will officiate. Burial will be in Lulu Cemetery, Ida.
Born January 20, 1930 in Danville, PA. Donald was the son of Glenn and Leila (Messersmith) Appleman. He was a 1948 Danville High School Graduate. He served with the US Army from February 1, 1951 - November 15, 1952. He was formerly married to Roberta English on June 7, 1958, in Ida, MI.
Don was a General Contractor for Don Appleman and Son. He also worked for GM Powertrain and Dupont of Toledo, OH. He was a past Ida Clerk from 1992 until present day and was also a past building inspector for Ida. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church , First Baptist Church of Temperance and Carpenters Union #1301. He liked softball, basketball, football, hunting, bowling and puzzles.
Survivors include: his son, James (Jane) Appleman; two daughters, Donna Appleman, Crystal Appleman; two brothers, Kester "Larry", Kenneth; grandchildren, Amber, Jacob, Caleb, William, Jesse and great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, John and Daliah. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Richard and sisters, Rebecca Susan Harris, Mary Lou Measles.
