Hetta Ann Weddell, 85, of Medora, died at 10:35 p.m. Thursday, January 14, 2016 at the Covered Health Campus in Seymour. She had been seriously ill for about 3 months. She was a member of the Medora United Methodist Church. She was a 1948 graduate of Clearspring High School. She retired from Osram Sylvania after 15 years of service. Mrs. Weddell loved flowers and had her own greenhouse, enjoyed gardening, loved animals, especially birds. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her family described her as a "joy to everyone" and she always had a smile on her face.
Mrs. Weddell was born on June 27, 1930 in Fort Ritner to the late Samuel and Dora Smith Nowland. She married Harley Weddell on April 8, 1952 in Indianapolis, IN and he preceded her in death on April 22, 1993. Survivors include, 3 children, Tom Weddell of Crane, IN, Jill Weddell of Medora and Jim (Rhonda)Weddell of Vallonia; grandchildren Jason Weddell, Toni Ann (Thomas) Harris, Matthew Weddell, Jennifer (Bryan) Haag, Sydney & Qunicy Weddell; great grandchildren, Jaeshawn & Megan Weddell, Aiden, Dominic, & Zachary Harris; 1 great great grandchild, Delilah Weddell. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 6 brothers, 6 sisters, and 1 daughter-in-law, Joan Weddell.
Funeral Services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. at Johnson funeral Home in Vallonia with Lenny Lawrence officiating. Friends may call Sunday 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home and from noon until service time Monday. Burial will take place at the White River Valley Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be given to the Don & Dana Myers Cancer Center.
