San Francisco Police Officer for 4 1/2 years. He wore badge #1941 and worked out of the department's Taraval station. Bryan's father was a San Francisco police dispatcher and Bryan wanted to join the force since he was a small child. He graduated from South San Francisco High School in 1996, received a bachelor of arts degree in criminal justice from San Francisco State University and entered the San Francisco Police Department on July 1, 2002 as a member of the 205th Police Academy Class. Prior to his assignment at Taraval Station, Officer Tuvera served with distinction at Southern and Park stations. In October 2006, he married fellow San Francisco police officer Salina Labutan, whose father is also a police officer on the force. Bryan was described as someone who always had a smile on his face, a class act, had a kind heart and had a good sense of humor. He had received many citizen and captain's commendations. Bryan died on the 12th anniversary of the death of his father, Benny Arthur Tuvera. He was shot in the line of duty on December 22, 2006 and died from his wounds a few hours later. Tuvera was the third San Francisco Police Department officer to die this year in the line of duty. He is survived by his wife; his mother, Sandy; a sister, Tracee; his beloved dog, Bosco, and many other relatives and friends. (bio written by Sue)
