Mr. John M. Almacy, 70, of Frederick, MD, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2016. Born in Bensheim, Germany on September 22, 1946, John grew up in a U.S. Army family as the oldest son of the late SGM John C. Almacy and Herta Kellerman Almacy.

After graduating from Frankfurt American High School in Germany, he attended Harford Junior College and University of Maryland where he received his accounting degree in 1970 and became a licensed Certified Public Accountant. He founded his first CPA firm in 1972. As owner of Almacy & Company in Frederick with his wife, Terri, he has provided tax, accounting and financial planning services for over four decades.

A gifted athlete and avid sports enthusiast throughout his life, John particularly enjoyed working with youth and coached competitive MSI recreation teams and Potomac Soccer Association travel clubs across Maryland for more than 30 years.

John was a Master Mason in Columbia Lodge #58, Frederick. He was also a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Baltimore, a member of Jaques DeMolay Commandry, Enoch Chapter Royal Arch and Council, Ali Ghan Shrine, and the Royal Order of Scotland. John was Past Patron of Frederick Chapter #79, Order of the Eastern Star and Past Grand Tall Cedar of Frederick Forest, Tall Cedars of Lebanon. He was serving Tall Cedars as the Supreme Treasurer at the time of his death.

Local community organization involvement included the Reciprocity Club and the Cosmopolitan Club, both in Bethesda. In addition, he was a member of Delta Phi Omega local fraternity at Harford, Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity at University of Maryland and was initiated into Phi Delta Theta fraternity at the University of Delaware.

He is survived by his wife Terri L. Almacy of Frederick; son J. David Almacy of Alexandria, VA; stepchildren, Patricia Reinhardt of Frederick, Mary Hernandez of Baltimore and Thomas Reinhardt of Baltimore; sisters, Cynthia Moats of Jarrettsville and Karin Hancock of Havre de Grace; grandchildren, Grace Almacy, Caroline Almacy, Evalyn Skipper and Charles Hernandez; nieces Stacy Burkhardt, Tricia Fletcher, Tara Almacy, and extended family. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, Ronald E. Almacy who passed in 2015.

The family will receive friends from 1 PM until 2 PM on Sunday, November 6th at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD followed by a memorial service at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society , DC SCORES Youth Soccer, or The Muscular Dystrophy Association .
