Harriet was the daughter of Abraham Grooms Cox Sr. & Harriett Beebe. She married Alexander Evan Booker on Oct 15, 1856 in Sullivan Co.,Indiana. Researchers will be able to find information in both Sullivan Co.,Indiana and Jasper Co.,Illinois and I would encourage a visit to:

NOTE ON AGE ON STONE:
Even though I ask the Booker Family not to make an erroneous gravestone showing Harriet to be 100 years old, and showed them the below information to prove it, they still went ahead and made an erroneous one anyway. I believe pressure was put on one of the Booker Family to do this.

So to clear it up I am entering the following information to clarify she was not over 100 years old at time of death:* Until someone produces a certified birth certificate, I will remain with these results.

*As all Census that I have come across show her no way near being born in 1831 , I feel this story was made up by the Grandchildren of Harriet (who probably thought she really was born in 1831), and that Harriet went along with it in order to continue receiving attention from her Grandchildren.

13 Years Old during the 1850 Haddon Twp, Sullivan Co., IN Census ( 199 - 201). 1850 minus 13 = 1837.
23 Years Old during the 1860 Jefferson Twp, Sullivan Co., IN Census ( 564 - 566). 1860 minus 23 = 1837.
33 Years Old during the 1870 Willow Hill Twp, Jasper Co., IL Census (30-27). 1870 minus 33 = 1837.
43 Years Old during the 1880 Willow Hill Twp, Jasper Co., IL Census (20-20). 1880 minus 43 = 1837.
58 Years Old during the 1900 Willow Hill Twp, Jasper Co., IL Census (240-245). 1900 minus 58 = 1842.
(1900 Census Shows She Was Born Mar 1842)
69 Years Old during the 1910 Hunt City Twp, Jasper Co., IL Census (211-213). 1910 minus 69 = 1841.
80 Years Old during the 1920 Hunt City Twp, Jasper Co., IL Census (170-171). 1920 minus 80 = 1840.
98 Years Old during the 1930 Hunt City Twp, Jasper Co., IL Census (43-46). 1930 minus 98 = 1832
(Note the 18 Years Age Change between 1920 and 1930)

The death certificate is the only thing that states she was born in 1831 and is not valid proof of date of birth, as no one verifies birth dates at time of death, the only concern at that time is the date, time and cause of death. The information was given by Son George Booker, who didn't even know what State his parents were born in, therefore, how did he know when she was born for sure. Additionally, if in fact she was born in 1831, then that would make her an Illegitimate Child of Abraham and Harriet and this I do not believe is true. The 1840 Census shows only 2 Young Females and 1 Older Female, the Oldest is Harriet (Beebe) Cox, the next oldest is Rachel Cox (Who was a Woods Baby) and the last and youngest would have to be Harriet. There is no female child listed that could have been born in 1831. The 1840 Census is as follows:

1840 Sullivan County Census
Abm Cox - 3 Males under 5; 1 Male 5 Under 10; 1 Male 30 under 40;
1 Female Under 5; 1 Female 10 under 15; 1 Female 30 under 40.

As the records show Harriett was born on 3 March 1837 and died on 23 Dec 1932 she was 95 Years - 9 Months - 20 Days.

Alexander Booker and Harriet Cox were married on 14 Oct 1856 Not 1859.
