RICHFIELD - Carolee Swaner Bowers, 81, of Richfield, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday October 11, 2016.
She was born June 13, 1935, in Farmington, Utah, the daughter of Dean Kast Swaner and Eva Wood Swaner. Carolee was raised in Farmington and graduated from Davis High School. On February 4, 1954, she married her high school sweetheart, Mark E. Bowers, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They settled in Richfield, Idaho, where they raised their family.
Carolee was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, including a full-time mission, with her husband, to Nigeria. She loved gardening and canning and was an excellent cook and was famous for the many spudnut doughnuts she made. Mostly, Carolee loved being a wife, mother and grandmother and spending time with her family.
Carolee is survived by her husband of 62 years, Mark Bowers and three children, She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, one sister, and many extended family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Gary Swaner; two sons, Mike and Robert Bowers; and one granddaughter, Sarah Stowell.
A visitation will be held Friday evening, October 14, 2016, in the Richfield LDS Chapel, Hwy 93, Richfield, Idaho, where family and friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday October 15, 2016, also at the Richfield LDS Chapel, with Bishop Delbert Tree officiating. A visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Richfield Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Farnsworth Mortuary of Jerome. www.farnsworthmortuary.com
