William was born to David and Fannie Adams. He was a life long resident of Centerburg. Bill served in the Army for 3 years trained with the 11th Airborne Division at Ft. Campbell, Ky., and served in the Korean Conflict for 14 months, 7 days with the 160th Infantry Reg 40th Division. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, National Defense Ribbon with three battle stars, among others.
Bill worked as a butcher for Cecil Hess and the Centerburg IGA and as a real estate agent with several Centerburg realty agencies. Having quite school as a young man to serve his country, he proudly graduated with the Centerburg High School Class of 2005 along with his youngest daughter Amber.
H was a Life Member and Past Commander of the AMVETS Post 59, A lif member and Sr. Vice Commander of the V.F.W. Post 4027 of Mount Vernon. He was Past Commander of American Legion Post 460 and member for over 50 years. He was a dedicated member of the Knox County Joint Veterans Council serving as the service officer since inception, performing Military Services for Deceased Veterans.
He served as Mayor of Centerburg for 2 years and had served on the Centerburg City Council. He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church of Centerburg. He was a member of the Business Men's Bowling League of Mount Vernon for over 30 years and the V.F.W. gold league. He was a member of the Centerburg Conservation Club for 40 years.
He is wurvived by his wife Lou Ann of 31 years; 4 children, Charee Lark Adams (Jim Purdie) of New Albany, Eric Andrew Adams (Lisa) of Mount Vernon, William Ryan Adams of Centerburg, and Amber Dawn ADams of Centerburg; two grandchildren, Colton and Logan Adams; brother, David R. ADams (Anne) of Apple Valley; 2 sisters, Joann Coder (Kenny) of Blue Rock, Ohio, Nancy Sparrow of Naples, Fl.; brother-in-law, Elmer Pruitt
He was preceded in death by his parents; older brother Arthur Adams; sister Bonnie Pruitt; and infant son, Gregory William Adams.
