Helen Marie Myers was born at home in rural Sherman County, Kansas near the town of Shermanville, Kansas on Christmas Eve 1919. She was the oldest child of Daniel Worman Myers and Ruby Gertrude Stannard. Her mother died of Scarlet Fever in the spring of 1936 at home near Haswell, CO and Marie was left to take care of the house and do the cooking for her father and her siblings. The family then moved from Haswell to a small farm 10 miles west of Las Animas, CO that summer. Marie married Boyd Binam from Las Animas in the fall of 1938. In Oct 1942 Boyd was drafted into the Army for WWII and Marie took her son, Gene, to Denver to live. Her other son, Gary, came along in 1943 while Boyd was in Italy. Marie was a beautician and active in the trade for the next 50 years. After the war, the family moved to Lamar in southeastern Colorado where they lived until 1968. Gene and Gary were gone by then and Marie and Boyd moved to Denver. Boyd died of cancer in 1981 and Marie married Hal Cash the following January 1982. Hal died 7 years later in 1989. Marie continued to live in Lakewood, CO until 2014 when she moved into a retirement home in Tucson, AZ to be near her son, Gary Binam. Marie lived there until her death in October 2016. She was cremated and her ashes joined with her first husband, Boyd, in Fort Logan VA Cemetery, in Denver, CO in September of 2017.
