HARDIN Mary K. Zier, a long-time Hardin area resident, raised sugar beets with her husband on their farm north of Hardin. She was a member of the Church and Church Women's Guild and loved to do needlework, cook and make quilts. Mrs.Zier, 97, died Saturday in the Big Horn County Memorial Hospital in Hardin. She was born in Dittle, Russia, a daughter of Jacob and Mary Reichert. She grew up and received her education in Dittle. She came to the United States in 1902, settling in Topeka, and later moving to Colorado and then Scotts Bluff, She married David Zier in Windsor, Colo. Feb.27, 1903. They moved to Russia the following year and in 1905 returned to Windsor. They then lived in various places until moving to the Hardin area in 1922. Mr. Zier died in 1936.

Survivors include a son, George of Moses Lake, three daughters, Mrs. Rudy (Kathryn) Koch of Hardin, Mrs. Dave (Emma) Zier of Yakima, and Mrs. Harold (Leah) Walz of Portland, a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Foster of Billings; 36 grandchildren; 53 greatgrandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in the Hardin Church, with burial in the Hardin Cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin is in charge..
