SCARBOROUGH – Laura Dodge Brown died Sunday, March 15, 2009, at Holbrook Center, Piper Shores. She was born in 1914, in Omaha, Neb. She was a graduate of Milton Academy in 1932, and Wheelock College in 1937. In 1939, she married Lloyd Brown, M.D. He predeceased her in 2004. Long interested and active in educational and community service, Mrs. Brown lived in Bangor and Brooksville. She served as president of Good Samaritan Association, Eastern Maine Medical Center Auxiliary Board, Maternal Health League and Unitarian Church of Bangor. In addition, she served on the boards of Community Health and Counseling, United Fund and Junior League of Bangor. She also served as president of Four Town Nursing Service of Blue Hill, currently known as Hancock County Home Care and Hospice. Mrs. Brown is survived by her children, L. David Brown of Boston, Laura W. Marshall of Somerville, Mass., Susanna B. Elliot of Brooksville, Rosamond Brown of South Portland and Timothy B. Brown of Lawrenceville, N.J.; and 11 grandchildren. Mrs. Brown’s memorial service will be held at a later date.
