Marvin Dean Fish, 62, lifelong resident of Rushville passed away on October 9, 2016 with his loving wife and daughter by his side.

Dean was born the fifth of six boys on August 3, 1954 to the late Janet Rankin Fish and Hayford A. Fish.

Dean graduated from Rushville Consolidated High School, Class of 1974. Dean’s major careers included: St. Mary Catholic School Maintenance, Rushville City Police Reserve prior to joining the Rushville Police Department in June of 1980. During his years on the force he spent many weekends participating in the Indiana Police and Firearm Training Association shooting competitions in which he earned numerous awards which included the Indiana Governors Top 20 on several occasions. Dean was also a member of the Rush Country Fraternal Order of Police through the years serving as president and secretary. He retired from the Rushville Police Department after 30 years of service.

Dean was passionate about his family. He married his high school sweetheart on June 14, 1980. They celebrated the birth of their daughter Megan on September 21, 1986. Dean was very proud of his family.

Dean was instrumental in creating and organizing the Rushville Breakfast Optimist Annual Car Show on July 4th each year. He enjoyed buying and repairing muscle cars which lead to his desire to begin the car show. One of his favorite cars was the Corvette.

Dean loved playing cards and listening to the oldies. He was an avid NASCAR fan with his favorite driver being Tony Stewart. He was always a jokester, sharing jokes with everyone from the dinner table to the doctor’s office.
Dean’s Catholic faith was very important to him and that helped him through many health issues.

Dean is survived by his wife, Marcia (Roberts) Fish; his daughter Megan Fish, and four brothers: Mike and Donna Fish, David and Darla Fish, Mark Fish, and Jeff Fish and several nieces and nephew. Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Janet and Hayford Fish and brother Steve Fish.

Visitation will take place at Moster Mortuary, Rushville, on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 where friends are welcome from 3-7PM. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday at 2:30. Mass of Christian Burial will take place in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rushville, at 10:30 AM Thursday, October 13.

In lieu of flowers for those that wish to express their condolences, please consider a memorial contribution to St. Mary School, as Dean had such fond memories of his time working there or to the National Kidney Foundation.
