Rev. Horace A. Culpepper, 85, went to be with the Lord Thur, Nov 23. He was the son of the late Quinton & Ethel Chapman Culpepper. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was the owner of the Princess Anne Boarding Kennel; served as clerk of the Virginia Beach Municipal Court; sold & invested in real estate with his son & Dave Miller Realty; & owned the Virginia Beach fishing pier. In 1966 he began a 30-year pastorial career with Calvary Baptist in VB. Following retirement he served as pastor at Cool Spring Baptist Church in Eure, NC. and interim minister in other churches. Horace loved to work in his garden. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Susie Mayo Culpepper of Chesapeake; daughter, Helen Sue Carlton (Kenneth) of Norfolk; son, Herbert A. Culpepper (Carolyn) of VB; 6 grandchildren, Kim Cox (Jeff), Casey Carlton (Kim), Todd Carlton (Kelly), Jennifer Maquire (Kurt), Herbert A. Culpepper Jr (Catherine) & Michael A. Culpepper (Erin); 10 great-grandchildren; a sister and many loving relatives & friends. Funeral by Dr. Kelly Burris on Mon, Nov 27 in Kempsville Baptist Church.
