Anna Claire Benakis went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 6, 2016. Anna Claire passed away at the New Mexico Veterans Home in Truth or Consequences, NM after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Anna Claire was born in Albuquerque in 1933.
Anna Claire attended St. Vincent's girls school and the University of New Mexico.
Known as Ace or AC, and Ya Ya to her grandchildren, Anna Claire was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Anna Claire assisted with the family restaurants and in later years was a secretary at UNM in the athletic dept.
Anna Claire was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Alice Balling, her husband, Gus Benakis and her brother, Steve Balling.
Anna Claire is survived by her two sons, David and his wife, Yvette of Colorado Springs and their children, Ashley, David and his wife, Ashley and Josh, son, Gus and his wife, Becky of Silver City and their children, Ted and Christine.
Gus and David would like to express our sincerest gratitude to the entire staff of caregivers at the NM Veteran's Home for their wonderful, compassionate and dignified care of our Mom the the last five years.
The funeral mass will be on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna Rd. NW.
