Doris Arlene (Oliver) Bowman, 87, of Savannah, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at Maryville Living Center in Maryville, Missouri.

She was a graduate of Savannah High School and Maryville Teachers College. She retired from the Personnel Department of Quaker Oats and had been previously employed with American Family Insurance Company.

Doris was an active member of the Savannah Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and had held local, state and national leadership positions with that organization. She was also a member of White Shrine, St. Joseph Assembly of the Social Order of the Beauceant, and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a member and former elder of the Savannah Presbyterian Church. Doris was a former president of the Business and Professional Womens Association and served previously on the Savannah City Council.

She is survived by: her four children, Larry Andrews, Bill Andrews, Debbie Andrews and Vicki Brod; her six grandchildren, four great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Doris Oliver; and nine nieces and nephews.

Doris was preceded in death by: her husband, William Ira Bowman; her father and mother, Perry and Anna Oliver; brother, Perry and his wife, Wavalea; and brother, Eugene.

Doris enjoyed her grandchildren, gardening, bird watching, needlepoint and crocheting.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah, with visitation prior to the service from 10 -11 a.m. October 11, 2016, at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at the Savannah Cemetery.
