Karen Rose Abel died Oct. 5, at her home in Lyman surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on May 30, 1945, in Ebensburg, Penn., to Ferd A. and Margaret Mary (Noel) Knopp.

On April 1, 1978, she married Clyde W. Abel Sr. in Phoenix, Ariz.

Karen dedicated her life to teaching school at the elementary level. She taught at Fort Bridger Elementary for 28 years.

She was a member of St. Helen’s Catholic Church and participated in the Council of Catholic Women, and was a Eucharistic Minister. She enjoyed quilting.

She is survived by her husband, Clyde, of Lyman; her brothers: Ron, Fred, Terry, Ed, Mike and Francis; sisters: Dorothy, Patty and Margaret; sister-in-law, Betty Smith; and brothers-in-law: Guy Abel and Bob Abel. She is also survived by five step grandchildren, 43 nieces and nephews, and 76 great nieces and nephews and many good and caring friends.
