Mrs. Ackerman, a member of the Church of the Nazarene, had resided in Rock Island since 1883. She was the widow of John Frederick Ackerman, a foreman at the Weyerhaeuser and Denkmann sawmill in Rock Island.
Augusta Anna Neuendorf was born in Pryzen, Germany, on Feb. 14, 1856, and came to the United States when 14 years of age. She settled in Erie county, Pennsylvania, where she resided until her marriage to John F. Ackerman on March 28, 1883, when they came to Rock Island.
There were eight children. The five who are not living are Mrs. Walter Hofgaard, Rock Island; George Ackerman, Rock Island; Mrs. Joseph Huston, Liverpool, England; John F. Ackerman, Davenport, and Elmer Ackerman, Rock Island. Also surviving are two brothers, John Neuendorf of Buffalo, N. Y., and Charles Neuendorf of Danbury, Conn.; a sister, Mrs. Sophia Ahlgrim of Northeast, Pa., as well as six grandchildren.
