Passed away 9-25-2016 Grand Coulee, Long Term Care with family at her side.
Born in California, Virginia was the oldest of four children. Her family moved to Irrigon, Oregon in the "30's". She Graduated from Irrigon, High school.
July 2, 1938 Calvin & Virginia took the Patterson Ferry across the state line and we're married by a Justice Of The Peace in Prosser, WA.
In October 1941 their son Kenneth was born.
1942 while she was a young mother, Calvin was gone in the Navy and Virginia worked at the Umatilla / Hermiston Army Depot as a Teletype Operator and delivered mail in an Army 6x6 truck!
After WWII she traveled with her husband and son from one Dam Project to another. Including Dams & water ways in WA., OR., ID., CA. and HI. retiring in Electric City after lifting the canal.
In her spare time Virginia enjoyed knitting, watching TV, and reading! In her later years she kept the staff at Long Term Care busy making sure she had a good puzzle to work and books to read!
Virginia is survived by her Son Kenneth (Holly) Allen Electric City. Brother In-Law Hugh (Dee) Grim Spokane, WA. Sister In-law Ella Mae Watson Hermiston, OR.
Grandson Jason (Allison) Allen Vancouver, WA. Grandaughter Jamie (Brandon) Roberts Shelbyville, KY. Great Grandsons Travis Allen Shelbyville, KY. Shaymus Allen Vancouver, WA. Numerous nieces & Nephews.
Virginia was preceded in death by Her Parents, sisters, Grace & Irene and brother Wesley Haney. Husband Calvin Allen. Three brothers In-law; Raymond Allen WWII. Eldon Allen WWII. Bill Allen Beaverton, OR.
There will be a graveside service at Spring Canyon Cemetery.
