Services for Donald J. Putthoff, 78, Tonganoxie, were Jan. 6, 2001, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Tonganoxie. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Tonganoxie.

Mr. Putthoff died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Oct. 1, 1922 in Montrose, Mo., the son of Edward and Josephine Putthoff. He was a WW II Army veteran and a member of the VFW Post 9271 and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, both in Tonganoxie. He retired in 1977 after working for 30 years at General Motors Fairfax Plant, Kansas City, Kan. He was married to Ruth Ingraham in 1947.

He is preceeded in death by his first wife, Ruth Putthoff, in 1976 and his second wife, Ruth Hunter Putthoff, in 1995.

Survivors include four sons, Stephen Putthoff, Lawrence, John and Thomas Putthoff, both of Tonganoxie and Gregory Putthoff, Lenexa; two daughters, Kathryn Franklin, Topeka and Susan Sallustrio, Olathe; two brothers, Harold Putthoff, Tonganoxie and James Putthoff, Bartlesville, Okla.; one sister, Mary Foley, Kansas City, Kan.; 18 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
