W. M. Gable Dies in Crosby, N. D.
William M. Gable, retired streetcar conductor and farmer, who had made his home in Glasgow the past two years, died Thursday afternoon while visiting relatives in his former home at Crosby, N. D.
Funeral services were conducted in First Congregational church on Monday at 2 p. m, with the Rev. Helmuth C. Fichtler officiating. Pallbearers were DuWayne Johnson of Hinsdale, Leslie Hanson, Alex Pederson, Kenneth Thompson, Jim Wellenstein and Leo Kyser, all of Glasgow.
Burial followed in Glasgow Highland cemetery. The Bell mortuary was in chrage[sic] of final arrangements.
Born June 17, 1892, in Rimer, Ohio, Mr. Gable spent his early there until 1915, when he moved to St. Paul to take work as a street car conductor.
A veteran of World War I, he served in the Army from September, 1917, until receiving his honorable discharge in June, 1919. He returned to work as a street car conductor until going to Colgan, N. D., to farm a few years later. He continued is residence there until September, 1959, when he came to Glasgow to make his home with his daughter, Mrs. Kenneth R. Ketchum.
Mr. Gable was married on March 23, 1922, to Grace G. Lentz in Crosby, N. D. She died here on Dec. 18, 1959.
In addition to his daughter and four grandchildren, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Cleo Roose of Lima, Ohio.
