Catherine T. Schliem, age 94 of Beloit, passed peacefully into eternal life, surrounded by her family, on October 4, 2016. Catherine was born May 17, 1922 to the late Augustine and Hermelinda (Raya) Rivera in Savanna, IL. In her younger years she was a Mexican dance performer with her sisters. On April 7, 1950 in Dubuque, Iowa, Catherine married the love of her life, Albert Schliem. Together they traveled, camped, and raised a family. Catherine worked as a seamstress for the Wagon Wheel and in retail for many years. She was a wonderful homemaker, active as a room mother and served as a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader. Catherine enjoyed tending her flower garden, doing crafts, sewing and playing cards. Spending time and the activities of her dear children, grandchildren and great grandchildren always brought her the greatest joy. She is survived by her four children; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; her two sisters; her brother, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2012, her parents, her infant son, Neil, a great granddaughter, and three brothers and four sisters. Brian Mark Funeral Home.
