In Honor of my Brother..poem read at his funeral..written by donna, his sister

My brother, Richard Anthony Pethel, born in the winter,
Weighing three pounds or so,
Was the middle child,
And such a cute little fellow.

I remember he liked playing cowboys,
Making model cars, playing ball and hide an seek an monopoly.
He enjoyed his Lionel train,
Playing cards and even dolls with me.

He enjoyed tinkering on cars,
And these were some past time joys.

When our parents took us to the zoo,
He was so excited..going on picnics and to the lake too.

My Brother..was a silly clown,
And loved to tell jokes..
When he ordered chicken legs at K F C,
He would ask " Can you give me the left leg please?"
He could always turn a frown upside down.

Sometimes he got picked on at school..
And He would defend me..
And even though he was small,
He could whip some of those big boys tall.

He served in the U.S. Army..
And they made his boots especially..
He was stationed in Korea and Ft. Campbell Kentucky and served his country faithfully.

But when he came back..his health wasn't the same as it used to be.

He loved playing his guitars..entertaining with his band..
He once had a opportunity to be..on America's Got Talent..a show he once was voted on to go further on..
But his chance slipped away..
And that was a sad day.

When he played "Amazing Grace"..
It was a delight to hear,
And when he got saved..he was so happy..
Smiling ear to ear!

My brother, MY Hero..came to my aide,
Wanted to comfort, to protect, like a band-aid.

He enjoyed old cars, and collecting an Facebook, eating Moms chocolate cake, okra, and T- bone steak.

He liked to tinker An fix anything..listening
to rock an roll music and to sing.

He helped lots if folks an came to their aid,
Sometimes he got hurt an was sad..
But he had a caring heart thru the good n bad.

He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, feeling the cool breeze.
Enjoying Gods beautiful nature,
And thankful for His Love.
And providing for his needs.

He was so special to me and sometimes his path was Rocky and hard.
But Jesus was his Hope n comfort..when he was weak and tired.

His faith was strong in our Heavenly Father..
Once when he passed out..he saw a great light in the room..
He heard Gods voice an thought He had lost the fight..
But God let him stay to see another day light.

He truly missed his family every day,
He used to say to me..

Dearest Brother, we're going to miss your smile, miss your funny jokes..miss you in every way.

He told me recently, when it was time for him to go, to tell everyone "He loved them and to let them know."

It soon became time for your journey here to end, to be welcomed with your Heavenly Father, family and friends in Heavens land.

Now you can sing and play in that heavenly choir..enjoying the mansion. Gods prepared for you up there..

Goodbye, my dear, and until we meet again..
We will always love you,
Dear Brother, Father, Cousin and Friend.
Love Always, Sis
