DEATH: HILDA (TINY) MESSERLI BALFOUR

Tiny Balfour, the first of four children of Elise Seiler and Jacob Messerli, passed away Friday, December 17, 1993 at a local hospital.

She was born February 15, 1915 in Montpelier, Idaho soon after her parents immigrated from Switzerland. She moved to Salt Lake as a young girl and attended local schools, graduating from West High School. She attended LDS Business College and worked for many years for the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad. She was an active member of the LDS Church, most recently the Ensign 3rd Ward. She served in many capacities such as enrollment director for newcomers, assistant sports director MIA, and nursery coordinator in Relief Society in several wards in the Ensign Stake. However, she will be especially remembered as a teacher in Junior Sunday School.

Although unable in recent years to participate as she would have liked, she was loved greatly and remembered by her many students because of her innovative ideas, well-planned activities, and endless patience. She spent tireless hours working on genealogy research with her dear mother, meticulously gathering information on her own family as well as for others.

She is survived by her devoted sister, Claire M. Moffat; her niece, Cristine (Dansie) Young and husband Robert; her grandniece, Alicia Hayes and husband Michael; and her grandnephew, Robby. She was preceded in death by both parents; two brothers; her brother-in-law, Dan W. Moffat; and a grandniece, Elizabeth Anne Young.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 21, 1993, 1 p.m. at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, where friends may call from 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment, Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
