Bertha Louise Sherman (Bertha Missamore) was married to Ercell E. Sherman, a Sacramento construction foreman. She was a founder of the Amapola Parlor of the Native Daughters of Sutter Creek, Amador County. She was a 45 year member. She also had 2 sons and put them up for adoption in the Sacramento Children's Home on Sutterville Road near her home, without bothering to tell them she was living only a few blocks away. Her sons were George Washington "Buster" Peyton and "Jack" Andrew Jackson Peyton.
