Midge was born on June 17, 1929, in Braxton County and was a daughter of the late Luther and Odie Hosey Knight. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her precious grandson, Brian Hedrick; and two sisters, Glenda Brady and Reva Byus of Charleston.
Midge was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished spending time with her family. She had a love for politics and was a lifelong Democrat. She was a member of the Democratic Women's Club as well as the Braxton County Democratic Executive Committee. She was also a member of Flatwoods United Methodist Church.
She is survived by daughters and their husbands, Pam and Max Jay Lockard of Flatwoods, Debbie and Jesse Pope of Asbury and Patsy Crites of Sutton. Also surviving are three grandsons and their wives, Heath and Mandy Lockard of Salisbury, NC, Chad and Jamie Lockard of Flatwoods and Jason Hedrick of Williamsburg. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Payton and Baylea Lockard and Matthew Hedrick.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at Stockert-Gibson Funeral Home, Flatwoods, with the Rev. Vaughn James and Lance Linden officiating. Burial will be in Bealls Mill Cemetery, Gassaway.
