Donald E. Widdowson Sr.
Donald E. Widdowson Sr., 77, of Barn Rd., New Bloomfield, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 4, 2016 in West Shore Hospital, Mechanicsburg.
Born August 13, 1938 in Chester, PA he was the son of the late George L. and Ruth (McDowell) Widdowson.
Don was an army veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division of Fort Bragg NC., a retired dairy farmer, a member of the Pennsylvania Farmer's Association and St. Bernards Catholic Church. He had a great sense of humor, enjoyed woodworking, Gardening and loved his animals.
He loved his family very much and was much loved by all.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Patricia (McGonigle) Widdowson. A son, Donald E. Widdowson Jr. and wife Brenda Lightner of New Bloomfield and a daughter, Mary K. Ouellette and husband Ronald of New Cumberland. A sister, Betty Widdowson Temple of Quarryville, PA. 2 grandchildren, Michael Chenosky of Chesterfield, NJ. and Margaret Hoover of Biglerville. 2 step grandchildren, Matthew Lightner of Marlton, NJ. and Benjamin Lightner of Mt. Holly Springs, PA. 2 great grandchildren and 1 step great grandchild.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 in St. Bernard's Catholic Church, 811 Shermans Valley Road, New Bloomfield. Rev. Robert Sharman will be celebrant. Burial will be New Bloomfield Cemetery. Friends may call at the church one half hour prior to the service.
